Photos of the Bearded Iris - all its Glory

These delightful flowers flourish in my Bulgarian garden, they are quite stunning - a pleasure to see, given to me by my good friend Molly they have rooted and established themselves in two years. The extreme summer and winter temperatures in Bulgaria seem to be of no problem to them, a delight.

Bearded irises flower in early summer, providing a delightful display of blooms that add a touch of elegance to any border. This tall bearded iris has delicate, ruffled flowers in a soft, flax-blue. They are held above fans of sturdy, sword-shaped, grey-green leaves. Remember not to plant the rhizomes too deeply, they actually photosynthesize and help to provide food for strong plant growth and flower production.
